Vista user profile - "leaking"
We have Vista Business desktops on a Win2003 AD Domain. There are a few users that when they attempt to login they get a blank desktop and a message saying Access Denied to the Recycle Bin. Except it is another uses Recycle Bin. It is always the same Recycle Bin that they all attempt to access. It also copies all documents from that other users profile to the documents folder of the users attempting to log in.I have checked GPO for correct redirection settings and also RSoP, but all seems fine. This is only happening for about 6 users out of over 500 users on the network.I have tried eveything I can think of, I've checked many forumsand Googled every possible idea, but nothing!I have 2 XP computers still connected and all is fine if these users log onto through XP. It is only a Vista profile issue. I have even deleted one the vista profile for one of these users, but the problem reappears. Any suggestions?RobC

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet Forum. Since this issue occurs with some of users you managed, it may be related to specific user settings. I would like to propose the following suggestions. 1. Suggest those users who occurred with this problem setting their computers to an earlier point in time. How to restore the operating system configuration to an earlier point http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936212/ 2. Does this issue occurs if these users log on through other available Windows Vista computers? If it is the case, it is due to user computer settings, you may need to suggest those users resetting security settings to the default settings. To do this, please visit the following website. How do I restore security settings to the default settings http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313222 Otherwise, if the issue still occurs while logging on through available Windows Vista computers, the issuemay berelated to user profiles. I recommend that you create new profiles which has same settings as those available user accounts and transfer important files from old profiles to new profiles. For how to transfer user profiles, please refer to the following steps. After you create the profile, you can copy the files from the existing profile. You must have at least three user accounts on the computer to complete these steps, including the new account you just created. 1) Log on as a user other than the new user you just created or the user that you want to copy files from. 2) Open Documents by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Documents. 3) Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options. If you don't see the Tools menu, press ALT. 4) Click the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders, clear the Hide protected operating system files check box, and then click OK. 5) Locate the C:\Users\Old_Username folder, where C is the drive that Windows is installed, and Old Username is the name of the profile you want to copy files from. 6) Select all of the files and folders in this folder, except the following files: Ntuser.dat Ntuser.dat.log Ntuser.ini 7) Click the Edit menu, and then click Copy. If you don't see the Edit menu, press ALT. 8) Locate the C:\Users\New_Username folder, where C is the drive that Windows is installed, and New_Username is the name of the new user profile you created. 9) Click the Edit menu, and then click Paste. If you don't see the Edit menu, press ALT. 10) Log off, and then log back on as the new user. If you have e-mail messages in an e-mail program, such as Windows Mail, you must import your e-mail messages and addresses to the new user profile before you delete the old profile. If everything is working properly, you can delete the old profile. Hope this helps. Thanks.
